Fano is getting ready for a special weekend. On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2026, the Sassonia seafront becomes a huge open-air playground. It's Fano Città da Giocare 2026, the family event that this year doubles up: two full days of activities, music, sports and workshops for children.
Admission is free. All you need is to get to Fano. And a comfortable place to stay, right next to the action.
What Fano Città da Giocare is about
The event grows out of the municipal project "Fano, city of girls and boys". The idea is simple: for two days, streets and squares become pedestrian spaces for children.
No cars. No rush. Just play, discovery and togetherness.
More than 70 groups take part: sports clubs, schools, public bodies, companies. All offer free activities. It's a celebration of the right to play and of inclusive, safe public spaces.
For children it's an unforgettable day. For parents, a different way to experience the city.
Saturday 23 May programme
It all kicks off on Saturday evening. From 7:00 PM at Largo Rastatt, baby dance starts with Joselito, the Sport Park mascot.
Then:
- A performance by the Vaganova school
- The Scuole della Fortuna choir, conducted by Giorgio Caselli
- A Disney mash-up by the Dance in Music school
An evening of music, lights and family vibes. Perfect for those arriving Friday or Saturday afternoon.
Sunday 24 May programme
Sunday is the main day. From 3:00 PM the animations start along the whole Adriatic seafront, between via Ruggeri and via Colombo.

- Sports for all ages with local associations
- Art workshops by the Fano Museum System
- Environmental education with Aset
- Road safety with Local Police and Metauro Team Bike
- Storytelling for kids by Memo
- Games and activities by Gas Gas play centre
At 5:30 PM the Yan Long show with dragon fly, lion dance and kung fu. At 6:30 PM the historical group La Pandolfaccia closes the day.
For children it's unique. For parents, a relaxing afternoon in a human-scale city.

For lunch or dinner, the harbour area offers seafood trattorias, restaurants by the sea and family-friendly places. The brodetto fanese is the local fish stew not to be missed: and it's right around the harbour canal that you'll find the spots preparing it in the most authentic way.
How to get to Fano
Fano is easy to reach. By train, the station is on the Adriatic line: a few minutes by foot or car from the apartments. By car, A14 motorway, Fano exit, then follow signs to the seafront.
During the Fano Città da Giocare weekend, some streets close to traffic. Staying in the seafront area means you won't need to move the car: everything is comfortably within walking distance.
